First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study tested whether a stellate ganglion block (a nerve injection) could reduce new atrial fibrillation after coronary artery bypass surgery. Atrial fibrillation is a common complication after bypass, affecting about 30% of patients and raising risks of stroke and other issues. The study involved 108 adults having their first bypass surgery. Researchers used ultrasound to guide the nerve block and monitored heart rhythm afterward.
