First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 11, 2026 · Updated 28 times
Summary
This study tested a special balloon catheter that uses radiofrequency energy to treat people with a heart rhythm problem called paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AFib). The device aims to safely and effectively stop AFib episodes by creating small scars in the heart to block faulty electrical signals. The trial included 397 adults aged 18-75 who had not responded to medication. Results showed the procedure was safe and successful in preventing AFib recurrences for most patients over one year.
