First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study looked at whether taking statins (common cholesterol-lowering drugs) can help prevent hearing loss and other side effects caused by platinum-based chemotherapy in people with solid tumors. 56 adults who were about to start chemotherapy took part. Researchers measured hearing changes using hearing tests and a questionnaire to see if statins made a difference.
