Common heart drug may shield ears from chemo damage

NCT ID NCT06553157

Summary

This study tested whether statin drugs, commonly used for cholesterol, could reduce hearing loss caused by platinum-based chemotherapy. It involved 56 patients with solid tumors who were receiving this type of chemo. The goal was to see if adding a statin could protect their hearing, a common and often permanent side effect of treatment.
