Do your cholesterol pills block your workout gains? new study investigates

NCT ID NCT06841536

Summary

This study aimed to understand how taking common cholesterol-lowering drugs (statins) might change the way exercise improves fitness and muscle health. Researchers enrolled about 120 adults with high cholesterol and no heart disease, splitting them into groups that either exercised, took statins, did both, or did neither for 12 weeks. The goal was to see if statins interfere with the positive effects of exercise on the body's energy systems and overall fitness.
