First seen Jan 23, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study looks at two ways to lower cholesterol in people aged 70 or older who have type 2 diabetes but have never had a heart attack or stroke. One group gets a standard moderate-dose statin, while the other gets treatment aimed at reaching a personalized LDL-cholesterol target. The goal is to see which approach better prevents first-time heart problems, strokes, or death. About 2,186 participants will be followed for several years.
