First seen Feb 10, 2026 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study tests whether statins (cholesterol-lowering drugs) and vitamin D supplements can calm inflammation and reduce eye bulging in people with active thyroid eye disease. About 120 adults with active disease and high cholesterol will be randomly assigned to one of four groups: standard care alone, statin plus standard care, vitamin D plus standard care, or both statin and vitamin D plus standard care. Treatment lasts 24 weeks, and participants are followed for up to three years to check safety and effectiveness.
