Common heart pill tested as secret weapon against ovarian cancer

NCT ID NCT04457089

Summary

This small, early-stage study tested whether adding a common cholesterol-lowering drug (simvastatin) to standard chemotherapy could help slow the progression of recurrent ovarian cancer. It involved 18 women whose cancer had returned but was still sensitive to platinum-based drugs. The main goal was to see if patients could safely take the drug combination and if it showed any signs of delaying the cancer's return.
