Natural compound tested to ease statin side effects

NCT ID NCT05312424

Summary

This study is testing whether a supplement called geranylgeraniol (GG), derived from the annatto plant, can help reduce muscle pain, weakness, and cramps in people taking cholesterol-lowering statin drugs. About 95 participants with statin-related muscle symptoms will take either no GG, a low dose, or a high dose for three months. Researchers will measure changes in muscle pain, strength, and blood markers to see if the supplement is safe and effective.
