Fidget spinners to the rescue: can toys tame surgery jitters in kids?

NCT ID NCT07270029

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study is testing whether giving children a sensory toy, like a fidget spinner or putty, before surgery can help lower their anxiety. About 500 children aged 5 to 15 will be split into two groups: one gets a toy to play with, the other does not. Researchers will measure their stress levels at different points before the operation to see if the toys make a difference.
