First seen Jan 14, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 21 times

Summary

This study looks at a program that pairs veterans leaving the military with a volunteer sponsor to help them adjust to civilian life. The goal is to reduce suicide risk, which is highest in the first year after discharge. Researchers will track 630 veterans in Texas to see if the program improves reintegration, health, and connectedness. The findings will guide a national rollout.
