Splint showdown: do arm boards help newborn IVs last longer?

NCT ID NCT07589010

First seen May 16, 2026 ยท Last updated May 16, 2026

Summary

This study looked at whether using a splint (a small board to keep the arm still) helps IV lines stay in place longer in newborns in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). Researchers compared how long IV lines lasted with and without a splint in 192 babies. The goal was to find out if splints reduce complications and improve care.
