Twisted seeds beat straight ones, giving cancer patients more time
NCT ID NCT07381439
Summary
This study tested two ways to place tiny radioactive seeds inside a metal tube (stent) to treat blocked bile ducts caused by cancer. In 105 patients, a new spiral-shaped arrangement of the seeds was compared to the old straight-line method. The spiral method caused fewer serious side effects, kept the stent open longer, and helped patients live longer overall.
