Doctors probe link between breathing machine settings and brain pressure in spine surgery

NCT ID NCT07085949

Summary

This study aimed to understand how different pressure settings on a breathing machine (ventilator) affect a simple eye ultrasound measurement, which can indicate brain pressure. Researchers observed 105 adults having elective spine surgery to see if using two common pressure levels changed this measurement after surgery. The goal was to gather knowledge to help make anesthesia safer, not to test a new treatment.
