Back surgery safety check: are second operations riskier?

NCT ID NCT05945550

Summary

This study looks at medical records to see if death rates have changed for a common lower back surgery called Anterior Lumbar Interbody Fusion (ALIF) over the last 10 years. Researchers are comparing the safety of patients having this surgery for the first time versus those having it again as a 're-do' operation. The goal is to understand current risks and see if pre-surgery planning could make repeat operations safer.
