New bone putty tested to avoid painful hip bone harvest in spine surgery
NCT ID NCT02250248
Summary
This study tested whether a synthetic bone graft material called AttraX Putty works as well as using a patient's own bone taken from their hip for spinal fusion surgery. It involved 45 adults with chronic lower back pain who needed a specific type of minimally invasive spine surgery. Researchers randomly assigned patients to receive either the synthetic putty or their own hip bone, then followed them for two years to see how well the spine fused and to compare pain, recovery, and complications.
