New study tests if keyhole back surgery preserves spinal stability
NCT ID NCT06904326
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study looks at whether a newer type of back surgery called unilateral biportal endoscopy (UBE) helps keep the spine stable after removing pressure on nerves. Researchers will follow 400 adults aged 50 and older who need this surgery. They will use special X-rays taken 3 months after surgery to check if the spine stays stable, which could help avoid the need for a more complex fusion surgery.
