New hope for chronic back pain? study tests spinal fusion material

Summary
This study is testing the safety and effectiveness of a specific bone graft material called Infuse™ in a common type of spinal fusion surgery. It involves 600 adults with chronic lower back and leg pain from degenerative spine disease who haven't improved with other treatments. The main goal is to see if using this material helps the spine fuse solidly and reduces pain and disability two years after surgery.
