Back surgery breakthrough? new cage design aims for better bone healing

NCT ID NCT05583864

Summary

This study compares two different types of cages used in spinal fusion surgery to see which helps bones heal together better. About 108 patients with chronic back pain will receive either a porous titanium cage or a standard titanium-coated plastic cage during their surgery. Researchers will track how well the bones fuse together and monitor patients' pain and mobility for up to two years after surgery.
