Spider-Silk inspired bandage fights surgery infections
NCT ID NCT02992951
Summary
This study tested if a special wound dressing could prevent infections after leg artery surgery. The dressing is coated with a chemical inspired by spider silk that traps and removes bacteria. Over 700 patients were randomly assigned to get either this special dressing or a standard one after their operation to see which worked better at stopping infections.
