Braces breakthrough? gum surgery and laser may cut treatment time

NCT ID NCT05227859

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study looked at two methods to speed up tooth movement in people with braces. Sixty patients needing upper canine tooth retraction were split into three groups: one got a minor gum surgery (piezocision), one got low-level laser therapy, and one had standard braces. The goal was to see if these extra steps could shorten treatment time and reduce side effects like tooth rotation or anchor tooth movement.
