Scientists watch Kids' eyes to crack the code of lip reading

NCT ID NCT05854719

Summary

This study aimed to understand how children, with and without hearing loss, use their eyes to understand speech by watching a person's face (speechreading). Researchers tested 140 children aged 8-11, tracking their eye movements to see which parts of the face they look at and how this relates to their ability to understand speech and emotions. The study also tested a training app to see if it could help improve speechreading skills for some children with hearing loss.
