Screen-Based speech therapy shows promise for common childhood sound disorder

NCT ID NCT04858022

Summary

This study tested whether online speech therapy with visual feedback could help children ages 9-15 who struggle to pronounce the /r/ sound correctly. Forty children participated, receiving either 10 weeks of therapy followed by 10 weeks off, or the reverse order. Researchers measured how accurately children could say /r/ sounds in words and sentences, and asked parents about the impact on their child's social and emotional well-being.
