New spanish suicide risk tools tested in chile
NCT ID NCT07103850
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study is testing whether Spanish versions of two suicide risk assessment tools work well for adults recently hospitalized for suicidal behavior in Chile. Researchers will check if the questionnaires are reliable and accurate by comparing them with standard psychiatric interviews. The goal is to improve how doctors identify people at immediate risk of suicide in Spanish-speaking populations.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide validated Spanish-language tools to better identify people at immediate risk of suicide, potentially improving prevention in Latin America.
What could go wrong
This is an early validation study with only 60 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The tools may not perform as well in other settings or populations.
