Gum disease protein test could reveal hidden healing secrets
NCT ID NCT07599657
First seen May 21, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026
Summary
This study looks at a protein called surfactant protein D (SP-D) in the fluid around the gums of people with gum disease (periodontitis). Researchers will measure SP-D levels before and 6 months after a gentle, non-surgical cleaning treatment. The goal is to see if changes in SP-D relate to how well the gums heal. 18 adults with moderate to advanced gum disease will take part.
