First seen Feb 19, 2026 · Last updated May 09, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This study looked at whether giving a sour-tasting liquid early on can improve swallowing function in people who have trouble swallowing after a stroke. 95 patients with acute ischemic stroke and swallowing difficulties were split into two groups: one received sour liquid, the other did not. Their swallowing and stroke severity scores were measured at the start, on day 7, and on day 30.
