A squirt of lemon: simple sour taste tested to help stroke patients swallow
NCT ID NCT07400822
Summary
This study tested whether a small amount of sour lemon juice could help improve swallowing in people who had trouble swallowing after a stroke. Researchers gave 95 stroke patients either lemon juice or water before meals and checked their swallowing ability over 30 days. The goal was to see if this simple, sour taste could make swallowing easier and safer as patients recover.
