Sound vs. scraping: which tool eases back pain best?
NCT ID NCT07244913
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests two hands-on therapies for chronic low back pain: one using a sound-assisted tool and another using a scraping-like instrument. Sixty adults with pain lasting over 24 weeks will receive one of these treatments or standard exercise. Researchers will measure pain, flexibility, and daily function to see which approach works best.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Sound-assisted soft tissue mobilization (SASTM) and instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) devices
What this could lead to
If successful, this could point toward a more effective, non-drug therapy for easing chronic low back pain and improving flexibility.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 60 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The treatments are not yet proven superior to standard exercise.
