First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study tests whether a steroid gel (betamethasone) or a numbing gel (lidocaine) works better to prevent sore throat after a breathing tube is placed during surgery. Sixty adults having planned surgery will receive one of the gels on the tube. Researchers will check for throat pain at 6 and 24 hours after surgery.
