Simple tablet may tame dangerous blood pressure spikes during kidney treatment

NCT ID NCT07231900

Summary

This study is testing whether sodium bicarbonate tablets can help control dangerous blood pressure spikes that occur during dialysis treatments. Researchers will give 40 kidney dialysis patients either the tablets or a placebo for one month to see if it prevents these blood pressure surges. The goal is to find a simple way to make dialysis safer for patients who experience this common complication.
