Summary
This study tested a computer system that gives ER doctors a risk score showing which patients might have social needs like trouble paying for food or housing. The goal was to see if this tool helps doctors screen and refer more patients to support services. Over 500,000 adult ER visits were included, and the tool's impact was measured by comparing screening rates and healthcare use between ERs with and without the system.
