Hand vs wrist: which spot is better for heart scans?

NCT ID NCT05725616

First seen Nov 25, 2025 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study tested whether doing a coronary angiography (an X-ray of heart arteries) through a small artery in the back of the hand (snuff box) works as well as the usual wrist approach. 326 adults scheduled for a diagnostic heart scan took part. The goal was to see if the hand approach is a good alternative without needing to switch to another spot.
