Scientists probe Smoking's hidden role in worsening gum disease
NCT ID NCT07323277
Summary
This study aimed to understand how smoking changes the body's immune response in gum disease (periodontitis). Researchers collected small gum tissue samples from 80 adult volunteers, including smokers and non-smokers with and without gum disease. They analyzed these samples to see if smoking pushes the immune system toward a more damaging type of inflammation.
