Sniff test: scientists hunt for emotion clues in your spit

NCT ID NCT07320040

First seen Jan 06, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study looks at how different smells affect your emotions by measuring tiny molecules in your saliva. Researchers will collect saliva from 240 adults before and after they smell various fragrances. The goal is to find a pattern of molecules that shows whether a scent made you feel happy, sad, or neutral. This is a research study to better understand the link between smell and emotion, not a treatment.
