First seen Feb 15, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This study tested whether taking photos with a smartphone inside the mouth can accurately assess the quality of tooth-colored fillings, compared to a standard in-person dental exam. Researchers evaluated 185 people with composite resin fillings. The goal was to see if digital photography could reliably determine if a filling is intact, needs repair, or needs replacement.
