Smart foot aims to stop falls for amputees

NCT ID NCT06711588

Summary

This study is testing whether a prosthetic foot that can automatically change its stiffness can help people with below-knee amputations improve their balance during daily activities like walking, turning, and going up ramps. Researchers will fit 20 participants with a special prosthetic foot that has three different stiffness settings and measure their balance while they perform various walking tasks. The goal is to find the best stiffness setting for different activities to reduce the risk of falls.
