Breath test breakthrough: scientists read RNA in exhaled air
NCT ID NCT07324252
First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 18 times
Summary
This pilot study tested whether small RNA molecules can be reliably measured from exhaled breath, and whether exercise changes those RNA levels. Researchers collected breath samples from 25 people (healthy volunteers and lung cancer patients) before and after a maximal exercise test. The goal was to see if breath RNA profiling could become a non-invasive tool for monitoring lung health.
