Doctors test if watching small kidney tumors is safer than immediate surgery

NCT ID NCT02346435

Summary

This study is comparing two approaches for small kidney tumors: active surveillance (watching with regular scans) versus immediate treatment like surgery. Researchers want to see if carefully monitoring these small tumors is just as safe and effective as treating them right away. The study will follow 600 adults with small kidney tumors (4cm or smaller) to track survival, quality of life, and determine which patients are best suited for each approach.
