Scientists scan muscles to see how SMA treatments really work

NCT ID NCT06532474

Summary

This study aims to learn how existing spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) medications affect patients' muscles and nerve cells over time. Researchers will observe 24 children and young adults (ages 5-20) with SMA types 2 and 3 who are already taking drugs like Spinraza, Zolgensma, or Evrysdi, or are untreated. The main goal is to test new scanning methods to measure muscle energy use and health during exercise, without giving any new treatments.
