New drug aims to tame rare blood disorder

NCT ID NCT05499013

Summary

This early-stage study is testing an experimental drug called SLN124 in adults with polycythemia vera, a condition where the body makes too many red blood cells. The trial will first find a safe dose, then compare SLN124 against a placebo to see if it can reduce the need for blood removal procedures and control the disease. Researchers will monitor safety, how the drug works in the body, and its effects on blood counts and patient quality of life.
