First seen Sep 30, 2025 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This early-stage study looks at how norepinephrine, a brain chemical, influences sleep quality and structure. Researchers will give a small dose of a medication (dexmedetomidine) under the tongue to 42 healthy young adults and measure their sleep patterns in a lab. The goal is to better understand the basic science of sleep, not to treat any condition.
