Scientists probe link between failing gums and nighttime jaw clenching
NCT ID NCT07053865
Summary
This study aimed to understand if people with severe gum disease (periodontitis) have different patterns of nighttime teeth grinding (sleep bruxism) compared to people with healthy gums. Researchers monitored the jaw muscle activity of 40 adults, half with gum disease and half without, for 24 hours using a portable device. The goal was to gather evidence on whether these two common dental conditions are related.
