First seen Feb 03, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This pilot study tests whether getting extra sleep ("sleep banking") before knee or hip replacement surgery can reduce long-term pain and the need for painkillers. Researchers will track pain levels and opioid use in 22 adults aged 18-74. The goal is to see if a simple, non-drug approach can improve recovery.
