Sleep apnea may harm your brain: new study investigates

NCT ID NCT07364318

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at how obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) affects thinking, memory, and other brain functions in adults. Researchers will follow 30 people with newly diagnosed OSA for 12 months to see if using a breathing device (positive airway pressure therapy) helps protect the brain. Participants will take memory and thinking tests, have brain scans, and give blood and saliva samples. The goal is to better understand the link between sleep apnea and cognitive decline.
