Study tests if washing or clothing blocks hormone gel transfer
NCT ID NCT02994602
First seen Feb 11, 2026 · Last updated Apr 30, 2026 · Updated 15 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a hormone gel (Nestorone + testosterone) applied to men's shoulders could transfer to women during skin contact. Researchers tested three scenarios: direct contact, contact after the man wore a shirt, and contact after the man washed the application area. The goal was to see if washing or clothing could prevent the gel from reaching women. 26 healthy men and women took part in this early-stage study.
