A Mother's touch: simple contact with newborn cuts Post-Birth pain

NCT ID NCT07471724

Summary

This study tested whether physical contact between a mother and her newborn baby could help manage pain after an episiotomy (a common cut made during childbirth). Researchers compared skin-to-skin contact, cheek-to-cheek contact, and standard hospital care in 155 new mothers. They found that both types of close contact reduced reported pain levels and were linked to better breastfeeding outcomes.
