Baby's touch cuts Mom's pain: simple contact beats standard care

NCT ID NCT07471724

Summary

This study tested whether physical contact with a newborn baby could help reduce pain for mothers after an episiotomy repair following vaginal birth. Researchers compared skin-to-skin contact, cheek-to-cheek contact, and standard hospital care in 155 healthy new mothers. They found that both types of contact with the baby led to lower pain scores and better breastfeeding outcomes compared to routine care alone.
