First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Fourteen patients with low bone height in the upper jaw received one of the two materials. The study measured bone gain and implant stability over six months.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

gelatin sponge and allogenic demineralized bone matrix

What this could lead to

If gelatin sponge works as well as bone matrix, it could offer a cheaper, simpler option for sinus lifts during dental implants.

What could go wrong

This is a very small trial (14 people) with no phase, so results may not apply broadly. Both methods carry risks like infection or implant failure.
