One surgery for Kids' hearing implants? study tests new approach
NCT ID NCT04039802
Summary
This study tested whether children with certain types of hearing loss could get a bone-anchored hearing implant in just one surgery instead of two. It compared 22 children who had the new single-surgery procedure to about 50 children who previously had the standard two-surgery procedure. The main goal was to see if the one-surgery method was just as safe and effective, particularly in terms of the implant staying securely in place.
