One surgery instead of two: new hope for kids with hearing loss
NCT ID NCT04039802
First seen Nov 18, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study looked at whether a single surgery to place a bone-anchored hearing implant is as safe and effective as the usual two-step procedure in children aged 4 to 9. The main goal was to compare how often the implant was lost between the two approaches. The single-step method could mean less anesthesia and fewer hospital visits for young patients.
